In case you haven’t noticed, Amazon Kindle has become quite a gadget in a fairly short period of time that it’s been around. Kindle is a very decent e-book reader (though a one trick pony gadget). But it will be challenged by a host of Android e-book readers in the future. Android is an exciting platform that gives e-book readers a better chance of competing with the big boys. And best of all, Android e-book readers can be enhanced in the near future through apps and extensions. Not too many Android e-book readers are around at this point. But there are a few that are in the works for mid to late 2010 release. Still, if you want to get your hands on an Android eReader, here are 3 units worth trying:

Nook eBook Reader: the only e-book reader currently on the market that can hold up its own and then some against Amazon Kindle. Sony Reader is another good alternative but so far Nook is the only Android e-book reader capable of competing with Kindle.

Alex: Alex is a unique e-book reader that runs on Android and comes with a color LCD (just like Nook) to help you browse your content conveniently on your e-book reader.

eDGe: it’s an interesting gadget that is an ebook reader and a netbook all into one device. It runs Android too.

These won’t be the first and last Android e-book readers. 2010 is going to be one busy year for Android adopters and an exciting one for Android fans. Until then, you can keep yourself entertained with one of the above ereaders.
