Nexus Two: Won’t Be Happening

Nexus One may have not been as successful as many experts predicted, but it seems it will be the last Nexus phone from all indications. Google does not seem to be interested in continuing the Nexus phone family. In fact, Google’s CEO all but confirmed that there won’t be a Nexus Two:
The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn’t have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticised us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: ‘Ok, it worked. Congratulations – we’re stopping’. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale.
It’s sad to see Nexus One go. But Google did drop the ball badly when launching the device. Nexus One never really took off when it could have been a big time player among Android handsets.
In reality, Google does not need a phone to push Android forward. Getting in the smart-phone business was a dubious business decision from the get-go. It is just not a core competency for Google to try to get in the phone business. It’s also good to hear that Google won’t be pulling the same move with Chrome OS. That’s what partners are for.
Google Nexus One was a decent phone. But it was obvious from the get go that Google had no intention of becoming the next Apple. There will be much better Android phones in the near future, which is why Nexus One won’t be missed.

Sad, but I think time will tell us if google won't come back to hardware, for my own, I love the nexus one, it's probably one of the best android phones out there, but somehow, google messup the supply chain and all the logistic stuff.
