Droid Pro: What To Make Of It?

There are officially too many Droids around. Verizon has been so successful in its branding efforts when it comes to Droid family. But could all these Droids lead to consumer confusion? We have been hearing about yet another Droid recently (called Droid 2). So far, it was rumored to be different from Droid 2 or Droid X. According to multiple sources, Droid Pro is a Droid 2 but with global coverage (with GSM). Droid products are some of the best Android phones on the market, but Verizon needs to do a better job naming some of these (at this point, this is an unofficial name, so it could change upon launch).

Droid 2 Has Antenna Issues?

Remember how Apple was embarrassed by all the complaints it received over iPhone 4? It seems Apple is not the only company whose products suffer from antenna issues. According to MobileCrunch, a number of Droid 2 owners have complained about reception issues on their phone. Unlike Apple iPhone, you don’t even have to hold Droid 2 the wrong way to experience connection issues. MobileCrunch explains:
Read Morethis thing did just ship two days ago after all (hell, a lot of people are just getting their mail ordered units today), so it’s a bit tough to gauge. Amongst those we know who have had’em for a day or two and who pay an nearly obsessive amount of detail to stuff like this, however, it’s pretty much unanimous: these early units seem to be having issues.

Motorola Droid 2 Set for August 12th Release?
The wait for those of you who have been wanting to get your hands on Droid 2 seems to be over. According to Droid Life, Verizon is gearing up to release Droid 2 on August 12th. Apparently, Droid 2 will come loaded with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and will offer Adobe Flash support right from the get go.

Droid Life’s screen-shots all but confirm what many of us have been hoping for Droid 2. The release date is tentative at this point, but it sounds about right (according to our sources). Swype and other Android goodies are included on this Droid. Of course, you get a bunch of useless software on your phone too. While we still find it hard to be impressed by this phone, it will give Android fans yet another phone to play with. Is it just us or is the Droid family getting awfully confusing?
Will you be picking up Droid 2?

Droid 2.0 Leaked?

Droid has generated a lot of buzz in the gadget industry. A lot of it is justified and a part of it may not. But Droid is a decent phone that has finally given Android a phone worth dumping iPhone for. But if you thought Droid was good, you should know that Droid 2.0 is already in the works. After all, Droid has a lot to improve upon, and as good as it is now, it can be much better. PC World is reporting that Droid 2.0 has been leaked in a Chinese forum and a few pictures have been put up that are quite interesting.

The new Droid comes with a powerful CPU, multi-touch capability, and everything you have come to love in Droid. It will also come with HDMI support. And the camera? It’s been upped from 5 mps to 8 mps. The new phone is codenamed “Sholes Tablet,” and we may now know why. It seems the QWERTY keyboard will be removed on Droid 2.0.
Droid 2.0 seems very promising (if the rumors are true). The next generation Droid has many advantage over the current generation iPhone, but it’d be unfair to compare the two until Apple releases iPhone 4G. One thing is for certain though. Droid is here to stay, so Apple should prepare itself for a tough battle with Motorola in 2010.
