Product Details

There are many bloggers and commentators who are calling the Droid the best thing since the bread. The Droid is a great phone and certainly capable of holding its own against the iPhone, but it has ways to go to catch the iPhone in terms of web traffic and market share. Apple has built a huge foundation for the future with the App store. And the majority of web traffic comes from iPhone users. Android is growing its market-share in that regard, but by no means it’s anywhere near what the iPhone is right now.

The good news is that Android phones are expected to catch and overtake iPhone in a matter of few years. Google is known for putting up fierce challenges in any market that it enters. So you can be sure that Google will be hoping to dominate the smart-phone market in the near future. The introduction of free, innovative services such as Google Maps Navigation for Android 2 is an indication of that.

The good news for Droid is that over 25% of Android-based traffic has come from Droid owners. So the phone is living up to its expectations but dominating the Android world. I sure do hope that Motorola will not stop there and introduce multiple generations of Droid to put up an even more solid challenge against the iPhone.
